Afterburner with Quench & Scrubber for Petrochemical Operations

Image
The Challenge A leader in Latin America’s Chemical and  Petrochemical Industry  needed equipment to oxidize Hydrogen Sulphide and removal of SO 2 /SO 3 . The chemical plant generated large quantities of exhaust enriched with H 2 S, water vapor and air, which were costing the facility exorbitant amounts to properly dispose of . The company went out seeking the technical solutions and went to several  manufacturers  to locate the best possible technology. The Solution  Epcon has built several systems for Chemical companies for similar applications for removal of H 2 S and acid gases and used their prior experience to asses the appropriate technology. Epcon evaluated several technologies and decided on an Afterburner with Quench and Scrubber as the best solution for this application. Other types of oxidizers can be used, but based on their small flow and high heat release from VOC’s we chose an Afterburner. Epcon also designed and installed Quench ...

Thermal Technology : Coated Coil Feature

Image
Industrial ovens for curing coatings can be designed to reduce energy usage while providing uniform, quality finishes.  When supplying air pollution control and process heating equipment to the metals industry, beyond meeting the stringent regulations and best manufacturing practices, equipment suppliers must develop new system designs that can keep pace with technological advancements and changing demands. As these industrial systems can have an operating lifespan of 30-plus years, it is critical to think far into the future when designing and engineering anything meant to meet tomorrow’s requirements. Ultimately, environmental impacts and long-term operating costs will be the key drivers when creating any successful systems for a metals industry application. CEO’s Outlook: State of the Economy, Industry, and Epcon’s Future

Image
As we move through the final quarter of the year, the overall health of the U.S. economy remains strong, demonstrating resilience in the face of global uncertainties. Notably, inflation is nearing the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%, which is a significant achievement for the Federal Reserve, reflecting the efficacy of its monetary policies in stabilizing the economy. Economic Landscape In August, the U.S. unemployment rate came in lower than anticipated, which created uncertainty among economists and businesses alike. This unexpected data prompted concerns that a recession might be imminent, as low unemployment can sometimes signal overheating in the economy. In reaction, the stock market experienced volatility, reflecting the collective anxiety about the possibility of an economic downturn. In response to these dynamics, the Federal Reserve acted decisively by cutting interest rates by 50 basis points, exceeding the consensus expectation of a 25 basis point cut. This larger-than-expec...

Epcon Builds Multi-Level Conveyorized Web-Processing Oven

Image
Epcon  had a unique opportunity to build a multi-level conveyorized web-processing oven . None of this type exist anywhere in the world. At each level, resin was being applied to the fabric base material and then cured in the Oven at 550 – 600 ° F. Each stage also had a different operating temperatures; as the web went higher, the temperature increased. Once built, the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) was completed and the international customers were overwhelmed with the design. Epcon considers this project a record achievement.  For the full feature visit Modern Metals Magazine : https://www.modernmetals.com/item/15351-epcon-builds-multi-level-conveyorized-web-processing-oven.html
